Phone Jammer Does "A Daily Show"
"You can take me out of the system, but that's like taking a bucket of water out of the ocean." Here's Allen Raymond, the New Hampshire phone jammer, talking about How to Rig An Election with Jon Stewart last night:
For those who missed it, here's my vote for the most memorable excerpt from the book.
Raymond has also been blogging over at TPMCafe this week.

Whatever they were doing in previous elections is being surpassed in wickedness today.
Dirty tricks, getting dirtier.
TwoMildreds wrote on January 18, 2008 12:13 PM:What's really vile about this story is that there is no contrition whatsoever from this guy. His appearance with John Stewart last night was proof positive that these guys will do anything to hold on to power. He doesn't for one minute regret what he did, or see the fundamental immorality of it. He's just pissed that he got caught. If he hadn't been the one thrown under the bus, he'd still be right there at the RNC pulling the same filthy tricks or worse. Amoral asshole.
Mr. Purple wrote on January 18, 2008 12:46 PM:As someone who caught wind of this scandal before election day in 2002 and started an anonymous blog to post and pull NH voters from message boards warning them to watch out for the Democratic phone lines being shut down, this book is a fantastic read. It really gets into the psychology of the dirty underbelly that permeates our modern day political campaigns. Look no further than South Carolina right now. I know it might be naive of me to think that politics could be played another way but one can hope.

I'd like to read his book for free.
I don't want to send any money to him.
Zac wrote on January 18, 2008 2:47 PM:Yet another Republican asshole who wrote a book (to make TONS OF MONEY, he hopes) after screwing over the American public.
Too bad the only people willing to cross the picket lines and appear on A Daily Show are schmucks like this guy, and John Bolton, and Jonah Goldberg. But then, what can we expect from -- well, you know ...
Mary wrote on January 18, 2008 3:33 PM:Did you notice he said "This has been happening to Sen. Obama as well" He ought to know. He is the professional in these kinds of things.
Hmmmm...that makes me wonder. Who is attacking Obama with Republican tactics.
There is only 1 candidate attacking Obama and she's not a Republican.
But she has had "many years of experience" with republicans. She knows how the game is played.
AJM wrote on January 18, 2008 4:18 PM:Raymond from TPM Cafe on who is playing the race card -- he thinks he sees a master:
Senator Clinton’s poor attempt to illustrate her leadership qualities opened the door to the issue of race. Senator Obama smartly stepped through that door and made the tactically correct decision to appeal to minority women in Nevada and South Carolina (with the emphasis on the Palmetto State). Senator Clinton won New Hampshire due to women voters turning out in force and Senator Clinton now leads among women in South Carolina. Senator Obama’s campaign is wise to keep the New Hampshire results top of mind: while Senator Obama enjoys a wide advantage over Senator Clinton among black voters overall, Senator Clinton’s slight advantage with women would be all she needs to win South Carolina and begin to put the Democratic presidential nomination away. Therefore, Senator Obama had to throw the chalks under Senator Clinton in South Carolina by putting race in play and compel black women to choose between their gender and their race. Senator Clinton gave him a fantastic opportunity.
Senator Obama is a savvy candidate and likely had a sense of how inflammatory this issue could become. It would help him with a core group of voters, but it wouldn’t be in his interest to allow the issue to dominate the contest. So once he got the utility he needed from Senator Clinton’s original comments, he let it drop. Senator Clinton was not about to complain, likely relieved to have the issue dissipate from the news cycle. So Senator Obama succeeded in deftly manipulating this issue to reap the benefits going into the South Carolina primary, while avoiding raising the issue further, which could have dimmed his positioning as a candidate who transcends race. If Senator Obama were to stay with the race issue, there would be a real risk of alienating white voters and making his candidacy about race rather than hope and change.

Raymond spoke like a true Repub. They can't wait to get their hands on hillary. If that means that they try to pin the "race card" on Obama..then so be it. They love that Hillary used their tactic of baiting then making it look like the other side did it. If she wins the nom - the repubs will not hesitate to show how determined she is that she will eat her own party and start a race war to get there.
But nothing says it better than video.

Zac - Despite their crossing of the lines, the fact that Jon Stewart made these interviews respectable and objective means, at least in my view, that he's the most legitimate newsman in TV media.

What crap. People go to jail every day for drug possession. This has a far more serious effect on the country. The fact that people do it every day doesn't make it legal or morally defensible.
The fact that his boss was aquitted means there's something seriously wrong with our appellate courts.
In all likelyhood the judge was a Republican and should has recused himself. But most judges are political appointees, and should not sit in judgement of political cases.

Comrade Rutherford wrote on January 21, 2008 11:41 AM:I keep forgetting that some people are actually watching Daily Show without the WGA.
In our house we are boycotting Daily Show and Colbert Report simply because unions need more support.
I keep seeing clips posted to blogs that claim to be liberal, yet these same blogs don't support the writers in their struggles to get apid for their work.
Watching and posting Daily Show and Colbert Report clips are undermining the WGA effort and bolstering the extremist right's position that non-wealthy people shouldn't be allowed to make money.
Please, STOP all reference to Daily Show! Don't even go to Comedy Channel's website, ever.
Be an actual Liberal and boycott Comedy Central!
