Actually, Shays does a nice job here of deflecting blame off onto Krongard's brother, who just happens to not be there to defend himself (based on the post, didn't watch the video).

Jones Day, i watch the video. You are right. Shays IS critical-BUT, mostly to Krongards brother. So, disingenuously enough, he manages to SOUND like he's being tough on Krongard, but he's actually shifting it to his brother.

It lasted only a few weeks, and was kind of overshadowed by the writers' strike, but the "Buzzie and Cookie in Blackwater" show, was one of the best of the season's new sitcoms.

What relationship did Buzzy have with Blackwater before they asked him to sit on the advisory board? Was he a complete stranger? Or were there pre-existing relationships? We need to know a whole lot more about Buzzy and what he was doing before he became a member of the advisory board.

If the brothers talk like normal brothers talk about things, I can't help but suspect Cookie knew all along about Buzzy's connection to Blackwater.
Looking at the issue with a jaundiced eye, it would sort of explain why State has been so successful in whitewashing 'investigations' into Blackwater's activities, or keeping the sweepings under the rug, as it were.

It's a pity the DOJ is so thoroughly compromised they can't be trusted to prosecute law-breaking any more (if the lawbreaker is part of the Administration). There are enough career-making cases in the Bush administration to keep any truly honest AG happy for years.

Did Rep. Darrell Issa just bribe The Honorable Howard J. Krongard, Inspector General, U.S. Department of State live at the hearing? Issa offered him a pass to the White House for a holiday party and a picture with Bush for his efforts before the Committee today.

The saddest part? This horseshit has trickled down so far, everyone expects anyone in a position of leadership to lie to them. Govs lie, mayors lie, CEOs - CFOs - C-Whatever-Os lie, and nobody's upset about it anymore. Reporters don't call it, constituents don't punish it...
Hell, board members EXPECT their organization's underlings to do it with fucking STYLE.

My GM lies like a champ, knows we know it, and expects us to pretend we don't. And most are happy to swallow it with a smile (those of us who make noise become persona non grata amongst the EMPLOYEES for fucking up the whole fantasy.)

It's enough to make you hope for the worst sometimes.

The guy is a good liar. I watched the entire thing and he had me buying it in the beginning, but the bullshit broke through. Too many lies to juggle. He sounded like Commander Queeg in the Caine Mutiny... they were disloyal see, they were all incompetent. And when I came in to straighten them out, why they hated me. I was good, they were bad.

Every hearing on this administration has the same base line. "I didn't know" or "I can't remember". The absolute best case that you can argue is that this guy is too incompetent to do his job. But this is the big leagues. Shays should be ashamed of himself for defending this liar!!!

Now seeing as Cookie is well over 50 I seriously doubt Mom and Dad will be presenting him with a new baby brother or sister in the future. "At this point in time I have one" can only be construed to mean that soon he'll be an only child. LOL.
