Report: Minnesota USA Under Investigation
The federal Office of Special Counsel is investigating the US attorney for Minnesota, Rachel Paulose, for a variety of infractions, former Minneapolis Star Tribune reporter Eric Black reports on his blog.
In March, Paulose, a former special aide to Alberto Gonzales and Federalist Society member, replaced Tom Heffelfinger, who resigned before the mass firings of nine US attorneys, although his name was later discovered on one of the lists of prosecutors under consideration for termination. The U.S Attorney's Office went through a major staff shakeup after Paulose's arrival. Four of the top attorney's in the office resigned to rank and file prosecutor positions saying they disagreed with the young attorney's management style and lack of experience.
From Black:
The federal Office of Special Counsel is investigating allegations that Rachel Paulose, U.S. attorney for Minnesota, mishandled classified information, decided to fire the subordinate who called it to her attention, retaliated against others in the office who crossed her, and made racist remarks about one employee.
Black reports that one of the four prosecutors who resigned knew Paulose, who has developed a reputation for quoting Bible verses, would likely fire him before he decided to step down.
The US Attorney's Office in Minnesota is working on a statement. We'll update you as soon as we have it.

yeah, I recall that comment when he made it.It seemed he was very hesitant, but it has come to pass.
the doofuses in the white house just wanted it to be their secret and look at how its blowing up in their faces.
Rachel Poulose, the very smart minority woman foot soldier good friend of Monica Goodling. I wonder where Monica is now. Maybe there is an opening in Poulose' district?
What kind of job is she even qualified for?

Paulose worked for the law firm that was defending the CEO of Ubited Health Group in a variety of civil actions from alleagtions that he had backdated stock options that resulted in hundreds of million dollars in gains for him; The CEO was a huge GOP contributor but Paulose's predecessor was looking into potential criminal violations involved in the backdating; the predecessor unexpectedly and abruptly resigned, Paulose was appointed (and confirmed without any senate hearings) and promptly changed the priortites of the office to child pornography and illegal immigration. Stay tuned.

Geez, do you think the country will survive such corruption at seemingly every level of government?
Bloix wrote on September 18, 2007 6:13 PM:Paulose is an Indian American who came to the US when she was 2 years old. You can see her ethnicity more clearly in the photo here, http://www.sepiamutiny.com/sepia/archives/cat_law.html
She is from a prominent family of an Indian Christian community called the Kerala Brethren, a Christian evangelical sect with extreme views.
Her biography shows that she's a very smart, hard-working, ambitious young woman: graduated summa from U Minn, Truman Scholar, Coker Fellow at Yale Law, appellate clerkship.
What appears to have happened is that this combination of high intelligence, Christian fundamentalism, inexperience, and utter lack of self-doubt was effectively put to use by Rove and Gonzales. I expect that Paulose believes that by her work she is making great strides toward bringing the millenial rule of Christ here on earth.

“ more graphic, more heinous, and frankly appalling. ”
So, when does the prosecution of Larry Craig begin? After all, there might have been a child in that Minneapolis airport bathroom.

Yeah, SoD, after Paulose resigns, I do expect her to show up on the AM dial with her own spit-spraying batshit crazy radio show.

Yes, Paulose had what amounted to a coronation at a local law school. I guess she felt she deserved it.

What's not to love. She fucks with the old timers in the dept. Walks around the office speaking in tongues and quoting bible verses. Great, shouldn't all offices be like this. How can this irritating beaver be allowed to work for the government.

They use every tactic in the book to deny payment. The backdating scandal won The Wall Street Journal a Pulitzer Prize for its reporting. It looks likes there will be no indictment for United's former CEO William McGuire, a major contributor to Republicans. He made over a billion dollars as CEO and deserves a long jail sentence. They should confiscate all his property and all his financial accounts.

EH wrote on September 19, 2007 1:28 AM:That we even find out about these turds is likely more an issue of momentum than anything. The wave of political crap was rolling through the administration and these kids got thrown off the horse. Look how lame every one of them has been.
John Ashcroft is inexplicably redeemed while all of this is going on.
Nobody of any competence in the administration has been burned by the politics except for the supremely incompetent and sour (Libby apparently played this role in the inner circle). Can you imagine working side by side with Kyle Sampson? Owtch. The place must just be rife with those who were just not as incompetent as Goodling, Schlozman, Sampson, Doan...and that's really not a high bar even with the absolute lamers tossed out into the gutter.

The COO for the Bloomington, MN company in 2004 was also a Indian Kerala Christian who knew Palouse's parents socially. After initially being turned down for the Top Secret security clearance that decision was reversed within a few months and the Bloomington, MN based company received its Top Secret security clearance.

This is disgusting - one would think a US attorney from Minnesota might be taking a look into the shady reports on the 35w bridge which were shaped to fit the pawlenty government policy.
The United Health Group scandal is an entirely different matter - when is the press going to link the outrageous sums being made by United and other health insurance providers with the horse sh*t health care we have in this country? A friend of mine was up in the UHG corporate offices a month or so ago and was sickened by the ridiculous excesses in furnishings and art - while so many suffer miserable health care conditions and exorbitant health care rates.
William Bollinger wrote on September 19, 2007 8:03 AM:Oppositionradio, when did TPM media get overrun by frat boys? When you were linked to by Wonkette. This is the usual chatter there. Fun, but unsophisticated.
When is the press going to link the outrageous sums being made by United and other health insurance providers? When they aren't owned by the same corporations making the outrageous sums being made by United and other health insurance providers.

I clicked on it and ended up watching almost a full hour, I was so stunned. What struck me so completely was what little regard the DoJ "leadership" had/has for the position of US Attorney that they would appoint this woman. The hubris just flowed off of her. It was the ultimate in Bushian false bravado. I could only imagine what the career attorneys must have been thinking of their new boss. And her "coronation"... wow! TPM covered this as well. The only things missing were the flight suit and the Mission Accomplished sign.
Let's just say I had a feeling we'd be hearing about Ms. Paulose again before too long. Major kudos to TPM for being out in front... as usual.
