The Senate: One Happy Family
The family that's investigated together, stays together.
Sen. Ted Stevens' (R-AK) said his fellow senators have stood by him now that he faces federal scrutiny for his involvement with oil field services company Veco Corp.
During an interview with reporters last week in Alaska, a local public radio station grabbed audio of Stevens saying:
There is sort of a cloud out there, but it's not harmed my role as a senator for Alaska, if anything, it's is a strange thing, it's enhanced it because senators read papers too, and it's sort of a family, the senate family comes around when someone's got a problem. And they've all encouraged me: "Don't get excited about this because so many people have been through it in their own states and it's not an easy thing."
Too bad Sen. Conrad Burns (R-MT) wasn't around to provide a shoulder to cry on.
The audio is online here.

On the other hand, if they're Repubs, well ....

He has pled guilty and singing like a canary about years of Alaska policital corruption
Local loser Legislator Tom Anderson was convicted in less than 24 hours of deliberations on 7 counts of bribery etc. just this week. FBI informats in the trial said they were trolling for corruption in 2003 and just came across Anderson as buyable. They weren't even targeting him! They were after Allens and Stevens back in 2003.
FBI & Justice were all over this years ago. He is in DEEP shit and so are all of his sycophants in Alaska. Few U.S. Senators have ever had a coordinated effort like this against them probably why Ted is getting conspiracy minded. Secret recordings, invoices, and RICO like ring leaders that are singing after 30 years of corruption
Spin away

Can someone give me the status of any investigation on Dominici?
I would think he should be at least facing censure by the senate.

Dominici is a Class II Senator, meaning he is up for reelection in 2008. It's better that he flaps in the wind for now so that he is the Rethug candidate in '08. All hell can break loose once the campaign starts.

Thanks for the response, makes sense to me hopefully the Dems will find a strong candidate to run against him.
We have a class II Senator here in Maine, Susan Collins (a.k.a the other Mrs. Lieberman).
Hopefully we will be able to get her out of office as well come 2008.

Baby Ben Stevens is among them. The best new excuse is that they aren't paid enough so they have to be crooked. Seriously. Although its fun to see all these republicans go down, the truth is that this is terrible for the state. People have lost all respect for their gov't. It's also going to be hard to get good people to run. This entire mess is a real black eye for us.
