The Daily Muck
Someone is trying to scrub voter fraud kingpin Thor Hearne's wikipedia entry of mentions of the American Center for Voting Rights, the organziation he used to push the cause over the past two years. (Slate, The Brad Blog)
Scooter Libby heads to court today to try to forestall his 2 1/2-year prison term in the Plame case. Patrick Fitzgerald wants him put in jail immediately. (AP)
The FBI has let its agents know that they should review all personal data collected from Americans in terrorism investigations before it is uploaded into FBI databases. So you can sleep easy now. (AP)
House leaders are close to an agreement on how to handle earmarks, which would end "a Republican-led floor protest over the handling of pet spending projects that had brought voting on the bills to a standstill." ThinkProgress points out that Republicans didn't have such a dim view of earmarks when they were in power. (Washington Post)
USA Today reports that Rep. John Murtha (D-PA), in efforts to secure a hometown earmark, has said that the National Drug Intelligence Center "was about to take charge of the 'vitally important' terrorist no-fly list." The Justice Department says they don't know anything about that. (USA Today)

JEP wrote on June 14, 2007 10:05 AM:Just got on the Brad Blog, about the scrubbing of Wikkipedia info about Thor Hearne, and posted a comment that I'd like to crosspost here. I think we can put together a way to keep the truth on the pages of Wikki, and even start a stone rolling downhill by maintaining the Wikki site, if a circle of blogges was willing to work as a team to keep the information on Wikki, it might get the story some more MSM time...
Here's Brad's closing statement and the comment I added;
Brad; You're welcome, Thor. Ready to come clean? Or will it take a subpoena for that? (We're guessing it'll take that subpoena.) Either way, unlike you, we've got nothing to hide, and we're not going anywhere...
UPDATE 6/13/07: Wiki info on ACVR restored, but Lathrop & Gage un-restores it. Twice. Plus, ACVR lied on their 990 public disclosure forms. Details on both matters now here...
My comment; "Just keep changing it back every time they de-post it. And post a copy of the complete record here at BradBlog before it gets edited again. Then, if they keep changing it, and Brad doesn't want to spend his precious time babysitting the Wiki site, we can set up a blogger's circle to take turns re-pasting the real story back on every time we see it's been changed..."

Him and his crazy eyebrows.
Mrs Panstreppon wrote on June 14, 2007 10:08 AM:Yesterday, I summarized recent news about Mark "Thor" Hearne in a blog entry at the TPM Cafe.
In December, Hearne testified to EAC as counsel to the American Center fo Voting Rights and less than six months later, Hearne is trying to disassociate with the ACVR. What is he trying to hide?
The Fired Up! Missouri blog (firedupmissouri.com)posted information about Hearne and a shady non-profit linked to the ACVR. Apparently, the characters behind the non-profit are connected to the Blunt investigation.
In another TPM Cafe blog entry, I examined one of the claims about Democratic voter intidmidation made by the ACVR in a report submitted to Congress in August 2005.
Eric Wang, a U. of VA law student and volunteer for Lawyers for Bush wrote a thrilling tale of being attacked by 10 large union goons in Philadelphia on Election Day in 2004. The problem is that the story is a baldfaced lie.
The junior GOP operative's story was easy enought to disprove because Hearne attached three police reports related to the incident to the ACVR report and left the names of two of the so-called unon goons in the report.
Wang claimed that he and his colleague were attacked by an all-white mob but I found a photo of one of the so-called goons, Bernard A.
Griggs, online and he looks black to me.
I am trying to find Griggs and the other so-called union goon, Fred Cosenza, to find out if Hearne or anyone at the ACVR asked them for their side of the story before it was sent to Congress.
I wrote to their union, the Philadelphia Trades Council, but I haven't heard back yet.
Griggs, especially, should be livid. Gov. Rendell recently appointed him as a commissioner on the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.
Did anyone in the Democratic Party even read the ACVR report? How did they let this kind of bogus information pass without comment? Did anyone tell the AFL-CIO about the union goons?
Buck wrote on June 14, 2007 10:16 AM:mrs. Panstreppon. You are my hero. Can we clone you?
Mrs Panstreppon wrote on June 14, 2007 10:34 AM:Aw, shucks, Buck, it weren't nothin'.
Seriously, if the Dems have paid oppo researchers on board, they are not doing their jobs. Leftie bloggers are hungry for information to sink their teeth into and the Dems should be feeding that hunger.
One of the folks at Fired Up! Missouri is only taking a look at a suspicious-looking ACVR grant now because he found the information in one of my blog entries. The Dems should have had an in-depth analysis of the ACVR operations online awhile ago.
Oppo research shouldn't be done just during campaigns because GOP operatives are busy 24/7, year in and year out, as operations like the ACVR and the Free Enterprise Coalition demonstrate.
Offense, not defense.
JEP wrote on June 14, 2007 10:41 AM:"Apparently, the characters behind the non-profit are connected to the Blunt investigation."
Its a family affair, like the Stevens of Alaska.
The Missouri Blunts have skeletons rattling in their closets that still have meat on the bones...
And Missourians aren't exactly long-suffering types, they will turn on the Blunts when the truth comes out.
That's why they call it the "Show Me" State.
TheraP wrote on June 14, 2007 11:02 AM:Seems to me that in addition to playing "peekaboo" at Wikipedia, the info should simply be posted over and over at many places where it simply can't be erased.
If TPM would put up a thread, or it could be this one, that simply allows us to post whatever info is available, then I suggest the following. Everyone with a "cafe" account can just cut and paste and put the same info up over and over and over and over. In addition, post all of it to your email lists. And be creative after that.
Get the story out. That now, not only do are they opposed to the "reality based" world, but they actually want to erase reality!
And the word is "bent" - as in what they are trying to do to reality.
I LOVE A GOOD FIGHT!

molly wrote on June 14, 2007 11:37 AM:;ACVR was a way to make DREs'look legitimate. The reason the dems. aren't looking into it is ,get this, they are in on it. Rush Holt and Feinstein have a bill in the house and senatethat will just keep the criminals in office. I guess they were told '08 is yours. John Conyers is the only dem. who has shown sustained interest in election fraud. Bush stole 2 elections. The nazis who are currently in office dem. and repub. were put there thru illegal elections.Rahm Emmanuel went around the country discouraging progressives from running. Told HIS candidates not to show anger. When the country is mad as hell. The problem is black box voting....We haven't had a fair election since 2000. Read bradblog..Only blog that actually addresses the problem that has taken our country down the slippery slope of fascism.
Mrs P wrote on June 14, 2007 11:37 AM:Thera - "Thor Hearne" at Google News returns several articles about Hearne's attempt to distance from the American Center for Voting Rights. This post and my TPM Cafe one are among them.
LOL - I don't how Wikipedia works but "Mark F. "Thor" Hearne" now re-directs to the "American Center for Voting Rights".
Wikipedia entries aside, I think we need to stay focused on answering the question as to why Hearne is so anxious to disassociate himself from the ACVR.
Up until at least 12/7/06, Hearne willingly identified himself officially as counsel to the ACVR. But as of 3/07, the ACVR had shut down its website.
Is the ACVR shutdown linked to the DOJ scandal? If so, in what way?
Keep in mind, too, that another GOP front, the Free Enterprise Coalition, dissolved itself in January despite accepting a donaton from a Texas congressman in December.
Between 2004 and 2005, the Coalition spent $2.5 million on election and voter related legal expenses. One of the Coalition-funded lawsuits sought to stop ACORN, ACT, the NAACP National Voter Fund and the AFL-CIO from sponsoring voter registration drives in Ohio.
We are not talking about nice guys here.
molly wrote on June 14, 2007 11:43 AM:Mrs P We are not talking about nice guys. We are talking about the republican party. I would guess that Conyers/Waxman will get around to investigating ACVR around June of '08.So many investigations ...so many questions and so few answers.
Mrs P wrote on June 14, 2007 12:27 PM:I'd like to correct something I said in my comment @10:08 AM.
I said that Bernard A, Griggs especially should be angy about being characterized as a union goon because Gov. Rendell had recently appointed him to the board of the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.
Fred Cosenza is on the board of directors of the Philadelphia Development Corporation and I don't think he would be too happy about being labeled a union goon, either.
I think most union members would be angry about unfairly being called a union goon whether they were in a managment postion or not.
goethean wrote on June 14, 2007 12:45 PM:It was an office action which redirected (i.e., deleted) the Mark F. "Thor" Hearne. That means that someone complained to Wikimedia management and they caved in to pressure.

Does someone have the 31 page PDF "Thor Report" from ACVR? Hearne's big report on voter fraud I suspect was generated by the RNC (more on that to come).
Mrs Panstreppon wrote on June 14, 2007 1:55 PM:It was part of the killed website, and is not archived on wayback. My guess is there is trouble for Hearne in that report.
I'm looking for that report, too.
Have you checked out the Exhibits to the Thor Report which you can download (8 megs)? That file, among other things, has the 15-page complaint filed in the infamous Ohio crack cocaine lawsuit which was funded by GOP front, the Free Enterprise Coalition.
The plaintiffs, Mark A. Rubick and Jamey C. Koralewski, wanted to stop ACT, ACORN, the NAACP National Voter Fund and the AFL-CIO from conducting voter registration drives. I wonder if the lawsuit was filed in Wood County because the GOP had a sympathetic judge there.
The Free Enterprise Coalition probably funded the Ohio case against MoveOn.org which is also in the ACVR report exhibits.
In 2004, the Free Enterprise Coalition suddenly had a $2.8 million war chest to fund election-related legal action. But like the ACVR, it tried to disappear from sight early this year. (See link below)
But unlike the ACVR, the Free Enterprise Coalition did not leave a big footprint. No website, no employees, no press releases.
Alex Vogel, former counsel to Frist and huge GOP operative, appears to have been involved with both the ACVR and the Free Enterprise Coalition.
Vogel was the de facto executive director of the ACVR and an authorized representative of the Free Enterprise Coalition.
