I'm sure Randy Cunningham wishes Ms. Lam's zeal and integrity had been replaced earlier by a junior GOP'er wanting a heftier resume by taking on a job he couldn't perform. Like putting Brett Kavanaugh on the DC Circuit. Pity Mr. Rove couldn't make Mr. Griffin available sooner; he might have gone to San Diego instead of Little Rock, and before Mr. Cunningham was exposed as a felon.

The San Diego Tribune-Union first exposed the Dukester as a felon, not Lam. Lam had no choice but to follow up when the SDTU reported that a defense contractor had bought Cunningham's house at well above market.

Under Clinton, Jamie Gorelick wrote the wall memo. Was that to protect him or his team? That memo said that if they found out that foreign governments were engaged in say pressuring IMF loans to Russia that the FBI couldn't tell say, Assistant US Attorney Sara Bloom who was investigating Harvard econ and Clinton profs.

Is this the Bush version of this? Did Bush have information in the 1990's that the Clinton Gore team was keeping from USAO Mass? Did Marc Rich and Libby know that and use it for their pardon?

If it is part of plan to spread the wealth and create back benchers, then why hasn't the U.S. Attorney in West Texas been replaced? He would be easy. He pissed off a big segment of the radical right-wingers by prosecuting those Border Patrol agents accused of shooting the drug runner in the butt and lying to investigators. Bush is now considering a pardon.

This hogwash explanation is the equivalent of Mark McGwire conspicuously leaving bottles of Andro in his locker. He figures, it sounds sleazy enough, people will buy it, and they won't dig any deeper. I think the San Diego investigation is heading straight for the CIA, and Shrub is looking more and more like Slippery Dick Nixon every day. Oh, and the "ImpeachBush.com" domain is going for $25,000 on EBay.

Bush took care of New York years ago. James Comey, US Attorney for the Southern District of NY, was a well-regarded prosecutor who was kicked upstairs to the Deputy AG's position in 2003 where he lasted until 2005 and then moved on to,I think, Lockeed. I don't remember what other big cases Comey was working on at the time but I wrote to him in either 2002 or 2003 about a phony telecom because he was investigating telecom fraud.

The appointment of Roslyn Mauskopf as US Attorney for the Eastern District of NY in 2002 was a disgrace. Mauskopf had been Pataki's state inspector general since 1995 and had a reputation for being less than vigorous in her approach to her work. Mauskopf was way too close to Pataki and Pataki cronies like Zenia Mucha to be an effective prosecutor.
